D Double E on new venue Camden Assembly: "It's another place for us to make legendary..."
Grime icon D Double E tells Best Fit about the importance of new venues like the Camden Assembly.
"It's bringing the scene," says D Double. "It's another place for us to make legendary... we need more venues involved in our movement so it's good to get it up."
"It's a nice signal," the MC continues. "Definitely good for live music... with so many getting shut down it's always good that something else can open to keep everything level. It's a sign of good things to come when any venue opens, especially as we're having so many problems at the moment... the Assembly's a good-looking venue in a good location, and it makes us look smarter."
One big name closure is Fabric - one of London and the UK's top clubs. "I've always heard things about it getting closed after having troubles, but..." D Double says. "It's a hard one. I think Fabric is more like a dance field, like an old-school electro place – it brings a certain vibe. It's not a wine bar, is it? It's like a festival... you go and you wanna get smashed, and it's part of the culture, but if people are dying then it's not a good look for sure. People are doing madder stuff these days."
D Double E is playing the London's Camden Assembly tonight with Abra Cadabra and YGG. Tickets are a fiver.
