Croydon teen returns home to find Stormzy redecorating his bedroom
A Stormzy fan returned to his Croydon home to find the rapper redecorating his bedroom.
15-year-old Ishae was shocked when he returned to his Croydon home only to be welcomed inside by Stormzy.
Stormzy was at the Ishae's house to redecorate his room as part of a give back scheme run by decorating company The Good Guys.
The teenager's room was selected to be redecorated as a gift for his positive behaviour at school.
During the clip (shared by BBC), Stormzy says of his decision to help out, "Cyle's [The Good Guys] already doing a remarkable thing. What he's doing today is way more giving and way more thoughtful than me coming for 30 minutes and being a part of it."
Stormzy was also asked about the Black Lives Matter movement, to which he responds, "One thing I really want this movement to do is show what it means to be black. You hear so much rhetoric, you know, "All lives matter – why do black lives matter more?" And it’s like, bruv, do you not understand?"
He adds, "If we weren’t oppressed, we wouldn’t be shouting, we would just be living our lives. I want you to understand that we’re not just crying or just shouting, acting like only black lives matter: that this is a real pain. This ain’t some sort of trend. This is real life and this has been our reality for hundreds, thousands of years."
The rapper also discussed why he's no longer on social media, "I love it for bare reasons, but it's also quite a toxic, negative place where you're consuming so much, and I was like I don't need to consume that much. So I said 'I'm gonna delete it'."
Stormzy continues, "I feel like you've got to protect the mental [health]."
