Crosby, Stills and Nash want their music taken down from Spotify to support Neil Young

Crosby, Stills and Nash have shared a statement requesting for their music to be removed from Spotify to show support to former bandmate Neil Young.

Last week Neil Young shared a now-deleted letter on his Neil Young Archives site addressed to his management and record label, requesting that his music should be removed from Spotify "immediately" due to COVID misinformation being spread via The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. He wrote, "They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both."

Joni Mitchell also decided to "stand" with Neil Young last Friday (28 January) along with Crazy Horse's Nils Lofgren, and after Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said the streaming service is working to add "content advisory" warnings to "any podcast episode that includes a discussion about COVID-19", Young's Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young bandmate Graham Nash followed suit.

Last night (2 February) David Crosby shared a statement on socials from Crosby, Stills and Nash, writing, "We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify's Joe Rogan podcast."

"While we always value alternative points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences," the statement continued. "Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don't want our music - or the music we made together - to be on the same platform."

Earlier this week India.Arie also announced her departure from Spotify after the platform sided with Joe Rogan, and revealed that it's also due to "his language around race."
