Creeper's Will Gould unveils new band Salem with debut single "Destroy Me"
Creeper vocalist Will Gould has returned with his new band Salem, and they've unveiled their debut single "Destroy Me" that will feature on their self-titled EP landing next month.
Now that Creeper's Sex, Death & The Infinite Void album is out, vocalist Will Gould has turned his attention to his new band Salem, who have released their debut single "Destroy Me" today (28 September).
Gould has joined forces with Matt Reynolds (Howard’s Alias, Skylar, Drawings) to create Salem, and "Destroy Me" is the first taster of the duo's self-titled debut EP dropping next month.
Gould says of the new single, ""Destroy Me" is a really good introduction that summarises the band, it had the right kind of energy from the offset. This band feels like a love letter to a lot of our early influences. It’s a return to our roots in a lot of ways."
Discussing Salem's debut EP, Gould continues, "It was a labour of love for us. We’re releasing when a lot of kids are stuck inside, or if they’re not, their life isn’t quite the same. It’s a way to soundtrack this very difficult time. The power of punk rock is that it helps you forget about the monotony of every day. And life has never been as monotonous as it is now."
He adds, "I’ve been calling them sweet satanic love songs. They’re happy songs about being in love."
The songs that make up Salem's debut EP were recorded at The Ranch with the help from producer Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor). Reynolds contributes guitar, bass and backing vocals to the EP, which includes Aaron Graham (Drawings) on drums.
