Country warlock Daniel Romano streams new record If I'm Only One Time Askin' [Premiere]
Daniel Romano is streaming new record If I'm Only One Time Askin' on Best Fit a day ahead of its release.
The Ontario native and Polaris and Juno nominee is following 2013 record Come Cry With Me.
The country/Americana/pop songwriter is bending the confines of all his labels, and instead of wallowing in the past, Romano opts to surge forwards and experiment with the classics. There are strings, keys and slide guitars sidled up alongside 808s - it's an ambitious, meticulously craft anthology of sounds, and is the result of many sleepless nights writing. “Every time there’s something new, it gets thrown into the coat pocket,” Romano says of his process. “Hopefully it’s an entity and not a confused pile of papers. Sometimes, you sit down and there isn’t a line. That’s when the songs are a little more ethereal.”
If I'm Only One Time Askin' is out via New West tomorrow (31 July).
