Very sad news as renowned singer-songwriter, Slim Whitman has passed away after a heart failure.
The Florida-bred country singer had a partcular following in the UK, maybe even more so than in his own country of the United States. In 1977, his album Red River Valley shot to number one in the UK charts where it remained for four weeks. In 1968, he was inducted onto the Walkway Of Stars at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Slim Whitman went on to inspire many big name artists such as Michael Jackson, George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
Our thoughts are with Whitman’s friends and family at this time.
