Coachella officially postponed until October due to coronavirus

Coachella organisers Goldenvoice have released a statement confirming that the California festival will be rescheduled from April to October.

The double-weekender festival was expected to take place in Indio, California next month with headliners Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, and Rage Against the Machine.

After a journalist revealed on Twitter a couple of nights ago that the event could be postponed until October due to the coronavirus outbreak, Goldenvoice - the organisers of Coachella - have released an official statement regarding this year's festival dates.

Goldenvoice write, "At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns."

They add, "While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials."

The new Coachella 2020 dates are from 9-11 and 16-18 October. All original tickets purchased for the April dates will be valid for the rescheduled dates in October.
