Christian Lee Hutson and Francis Lung contribute Elliott Smith covers to new charity compilation LP
Christian Lee Hutson, Francis Lung and more have contributed covers of Elliott Smith songs to a new charity compilation album called Everybody Cares: An Elliott Smith Compilation.
After Francis Lung, La Blogotheque, and the My Favourite Elliott Smith Song podcast put together the Everybody Cares tribute charity concert in June 2020, raising over £1500 for LGBTQ+ rights charities AKT, The Audre Lorde Project and GIRES, the same team have released Everybody Cares: An Elliott Smith Compilation, a tribute album to continue fundraising and raising awareness for LGBTQ+ rights.
Everybody Cares: An Elliott Smith Compilation is released independently on Bandcamp today (15 February), and features Smith covers by the likes of Christian Lee Hutson, Francis Lung, Marissa Nadler, Blaenavon, Kevin Devine and more.
The compilation includes covers of Smith songs from his Figure 8, From A Basement On The Hill, XO, and Elliott Smith albums. Hutson's cover of "In The Lost & Found" is particularly impressive and close to Smith's original.
100% of the proceeds will be given to the same charities as last year's tribute charity concert.
