Chlöe Bailey says debut solo album is "90% done"
Chlöe Bailey, who is set to release her debut solo single "Have Mercy" in the near future, has revealed that her first solo album is "90% done".
Bailey, known as one half of the sister duo Chloe x Halle, started teasing her debut solo single "Have Mercy" at the start of July, and after confirming earlier this month that it's on the way, she's spoken to Billboard about her first solo album, which will reportedly be out sooner than fans think.
She told Billboard that the album is "90%" done, and is apparently narrowing down the tracklist from a selection of nearly 50 songs.
Bailey said she started working on the album in "2019, a month or two before the pandemic hit", but hit the pause button "so my sister and I could promote Ungodly Hour". She continued, "But in between I was in my bedroom creating at night. I’d be making my own beats and working on songs and ideas for this project that I knew would come, I just didn’t know when."
The interview also seems to hint that Bailey has written and produced many, if not all the songs on her upcoming album. When asked about the importance of writing ahd producing her own material, Bailey responded, "I feel completely empowered to be a woman today and be confident with that. There are so many incredible female producers, I’m not the only one and there were so many before me. It’s just we don’t get the time that we deserve. I hope people seeing me produce only inspires other young women who are fearless in doing that and are okay stepping in the room with men and being confident in who they are and not letting people’s underestimation of us hold us back."
