Childish Gambino shares new album track “Melrose”
Not content with proving that he can indeed rap, Donald Glover- A.K.A Childish Gambino - wants us to know that he can sing, too, in the latest in a series of cuts from his sophomore studio album, Because The Internet.
Glover’s previous releases, Camp in particular, gained plaudits for showcasing a fresh and sometimes blistering candour, but here he strips away the nerdy self-deprecation in favour of out-and-out tenderness. “Melrose”, dropped late last night when sent in a public tweet to singer and friend Jhené Aiko, trades soft piano and a shimmering boom-clap beat over the falsetto refrain of “Someone gave you all my love, baby”.
