Childish Gambino says making his new album "wasn’t a lot of fun"
Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, has broken his silence on the circumstances that helped create latest LP "Awaken, My Love!".
Despite being a pretty upbeat record with plenty of energy and soulful funk gloriousness, Glover didn't have the greatest time getting it all together.
"I like sucker punches," Glover says to triple j in his first interview since the release of LP3, referring to Questlove's reaction. “I like things that you’re not expecting. "It’s funny, I think people hear the album and, to be completely honest... it wasn’t a lot of fun," he admitted to the Australian radio statio. "It was actually really hard. I was going through a lot, and I also think in America we’re going through a lot right now, with everything that’s going on..."

Before this new LP, Gambino's last release was 2014 mixtape STN MTN/KAUAI, and his last record was 2013's Because The Internet. Since he last released music, Gambino returned to TV with acclaimed FX series Atlanta.
