CHIKA celebrates 24th birthday with cover of Billie Eilish's "my future"
2021 Grammy nominee CHIKA is celebrating her 24th birthday today (9 March) with a cover of Billie Eilish's "my future" and a new version of her own "U SHOULD" song, released as part of Spotify's Singles series.
CHIKA hasn't released new music since December 2020's "FWB", but has today (9 March) emerged with a cover of Eilish's July 2020 single "my future", as well as a new version of CHIKA's 2020 track "U SHOULD".
The new tracks are released as part of Spotify's Singles series, and also coincides with CHIKA's 24th birthday.
CHIKA said of her song choices, " picked "my future" by Billie Eilish as my BNA cover for Spotify because the song is beautiful and presents an interesting opportunity to talk about where I am as an artist, especially on the heels of this nomination. My present is moving so fast that each passing moment is practically the future already. And I’m in love with the ride I’m on."
This week's Spotify Singles will feature nominees for this year's Best New Artist Grammy Award. Each artist had to record a reimagining one of their own songs, as well as recording a cover from a past Best New Artist nominee.
