CHAI link with Ric Wilson on mellow new single "Maybe Chocolate Chips"
CHAI are back with new Ric Wilson collaboration "Maybe Chocolate Chips", which lands as the third preview of the group's upcoming album WINK.
"Maybe Chocolate Chips" follows last month's "ACTION", and marks CHAI's first collaboration with Ric Wilson after meeting him at 2019's Pitchfork Music Festival.
Bassist and lyricist YUUKI says of their new single, "Things that we want to hold on to, things that we wished went away. A lot of things happen as we age and with that for me, is new moles! But I love them! My moles are like the chocolate chips on a cookie, the more you have, the happier you become! and before you know it, you're an original."
WINK will be CHAI's debut album for Sub Pop after signing to the label in October 2020, and will follow their 2019 album PUNK.
CHAI say of the album title, "A person who winks is a person with a pure heart, who lives with flexibility, who does what they want. A person who winks is a person who is free." YUUKI adds, "With this album, we’re winking at you. We’re living freely and we hope that when you listen, you can wink and live freely, too."
WINK will be the first album from CHAI to include contributions from outside producers (Mndsgn, YMCK), and will also feature the band's 2020 single "Donuts Mind If I Do".
