Celeste announced as winner of the BRITs Rising Star Award 2020
Soul singer Celeste has won the BRITs Rising Star Award for 2020, and is the first performer confirmed for the 40th Awards ceremony in February 2020.
The BRITs Rising Star Award has replaced the Critics' Choice Award, which Sam Fender won this year. Other winners over the years include Jorja Smith, Sam Smith, Jessie J, Adele, Ellie Goulding, and more.
For 2020, the BRITs will be inviting the Rising Star winner to perform at the Awards Ceremony for the first time in the award show history.
Celeste was chosen as the winner for the first BRITs Rising Star Award over Beabadoobee and Joy Crookes.
Speaking about the award, Celeste says, "It’s a huge honour to be the recipient of the BRITs Rising Star Award 2020. Like many others, I grew up watching the BRITs and have been continually inspired by its nominees, winners and the performances. I hope to make the most of this incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to perform on the BRITs next year."
