Carrie Brownstein to star in new film Carol with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara

Wild Flag and Sleater-Kinney musician Carrie Brownstein is set to add another feat to her acting resume, following the critically-loved and enormously funny Portlandia.
As Pitchfork note, the guitarist has been cast in a new movie called Carol by director Todd Haynes (I’m Not There, Velvet Goldmine), starring alongside Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. The film is based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel The Price of Salt, with Brownstein playing the role of character Genevieve Cantrell.
