Carrie Brownstein and Sleater-Kinney have some exciting news
Sleater-Kinney and member Carrie Brownstein both have some big bits of news to reveal...
Brownstein is turning her acclaimed 2015 memoir Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl into a TV show - she's writing and directing a half-hour comedy pilot for streaming giant Hulu, and according to The Hollywood Reporter it's called Search And Destroy (for now). It's set to focus on "a young woman, a band, and a community learning how to be unafraid of their own noise." Brownstein won't be appearing on screen however (at least not at this stage), and that might be linked to the next bit of news she's linked to...
Sleater-Kinney are back working on new music! The punk outfit returned in 2015 with comeback LP No Cities To Love after a 10-year absence, and then released live collection Live In Paris last year. They've hinted at returning to music again, but now they've officially confirmed it's happening... albeit "very slowly". In an interview promoting the last season of Portlandia, Brownstein revealed that the trio (Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss) have been in the studio. Exciting stuff.
