The Line of Best Fit
This is not a drill: Carly Simon's "Why" has finally hit Spotify.
The song - originally recorded for the soundtrack of abysmal 1982 erotic comedy Soup for One - has been a glaring omission in Spotify's catalogue for years. Recorded with Chic's Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers at a time when Simon's career was on the skids, it's a rare example of an artist actualy doing her most interesting work while trying to stay relevant.
The song is easily the best thing Simon ever made (we'll fight you if you disagree) and is only bettered by the incredible 12" mix, which found a new audience as a Hacienda anthem.
Listen to the original and the 12" version over on Spotify.
