Captain Tom Moore responds to The Weeknd after he backs him for UK Number One single
War veteran Captain Tom Moore has responded to The Weeknd after the Canadian musician urged fans to support his charity single and get it to the top spot in the UK Singles Chart.
Captain Tom Moore has raised over £25million as part of his 100th birthday charity walk for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Weeknd, who currently holds the Number One spot in the UK Singles Chart with his "Blinding Lights" track, urged fans on Twitter yesterday (23 April) to support Captain Tom Moore and Michael Ball's charity cover single of "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, wrote, "everyone in the UK please support Captain Tom Moore / Michael Ball single so this incredible 99 yr old war veteran, walking for the British National Health Service & now raised $35 Million can have a No 1 for his 100th birthday in the UK! We’re routing for you. XO!"

He quickly corrected his spelling of "routing" to "rooting", and received a reply from the war veteran soon after, who wrote, "My goodness, how gracious of you The Weeknd. Benji tells me you're rather talented and very popular! What a kind gesture. Thank you!"
The Weeknd replied, "Thank YOU Sir and we all wish you a happy birthday."
