Canada’s own Polaris Prize have unveiled the recently-condensed shortlist for this year’s award – cutting a 40-strong list down to just 10.

The annual accolade is given to what the Polaris panel deem to be the best album made in the last 12 months by any Canadian artist, regardless of genre.

Among this year’s nominations are Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Metric, METZ, Purity Ring, Tegan and Sara, Colin Stetson and more.

Those who didn’t quite make the cut include Rhye, Mac DeMarco and The Besnard Lakes.

Check out the full shortlist below. Last year’s award went to Feist for Metals.

A Tribe Called Red – Nation II Nation
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – ‘Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!

Colin Stetson – New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light
Tegan and Sara – Heartthrob
