Burna Boy responds to police brutality in Nigeria with powerful new song "20 10 20"
Burna Boy has released "20 10 20", a powerful song responding to the unjust actions of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria.
"20 10 20" is Burna Boy's first release since his Twice As Tall album.
The first half of the track sees Burna Boy recall the events of 20 October, also known as the Lekki Massacre, where protesters were killed at Lagos’ Lekki Toll Gate, "20th of October 2020 / You carry army go kill many youth for Lekki."
He also calls on Nigeria's authorities to investigate the SARS unit and to give the victims justice.
Burna Boy expressed his opinion on the violent situation via Twitter last week, writing, "I HAVE NOT SLEPT since 20/10/2020. I close my eyes and all I see is Lekki toll gate. I’ve seen a lot of Violence and death in my Life but this is the one that has Traumatised me."
