Built To Spill to release album of Daniel Johnston covers
Built To Spill have announced the release of a Daniel Johnston covers album to pay tribute to the late musician.
Daniel Johnston died aged 58 in September 2019.
Built To Spill joined Daniel Johnston on his "final" tour back in 2017, and have today announced the release of a covers album dedicated to the late musician.
The announcement arrives with a cover of Johnston's "Bloody Rainbow".
Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston was recorded when the band were rehearsing for their Vancouver show with Daniel Johnston in 2018.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the LP, vocalist Doug Martsch says, "It was pretty special for us. Basically we wanted to get good documentation of what our rehearsals were like. It was a lot heavier than what I thought it would be."
