Buck Meek shares new track "Candle" co-written with Big Thief bandmate Adrianne Lenker
Buck Meek has unveiled new track "Candle" from his forthcoming solo album Two Saviors, and it was co-written with Big Thief bandmate Adrianne Lenker.
"Candle" is the third single to be lifted from Two Saviors, following last year's "Pareidolia" and "Second Sight" releases.
The new track was co-written with fellow Big Thief member Adrianne Lenker.
Buck Meek says, "I was making my escape, when the siren's song caught me a mile up the road. My nose started bleeding by the second note, so I lit a candle to keep moving. I may have died and woke in heaven's motel, with a telephone seashell at the bedside. It rang in waves and waves spoke, and waves heard through me."
Two Saviors will follow his 2018 self-titled solo album, and was recorded (with conditions) in New Orleans with producer and engineer Andrew Sarlo. The conditions included recording during the hottest time of the year, spending a maximum of seven days tracking, and had to be recorded live on an 8-track tape. The musicians weren't allowed headphones, and couldn't hear any of the takes until the final day. Buck Meek met those requirements and recorded the LP with a band made up of Adam Brisbin (guitar), Mat Davidson (bass, pedal steel, fiddle), Austin Vaughn (drums) and Buck’s brother Dylan Meek (piano, organ).
