Britney Spears' father Jamie files request to immediately terminate daughter's conservatorship
Jamie Spears has filed new court documents supporting Britney Spears' request to immediately terminate her conservatorship ahead of a hearing next week.
In September Jamie Spears was suspended from his role as Britney Spears' conservator after 13 years following multiple objections from the popstar. The judge appointed an accountant chosen by Spears' legal team - John Zabel - as the temporary co-conservator of Britney Spears' estate, saying it "is in the best interest of the conservatee."
A hearing is due to take place next week (12 November) to discuss whether Spears' conservatorship should be completely terminated, and according to Vulture, Jamie Spears filed new court docuements on Monday (1 November) supporting his daughter's request to end it.
The court documents state, "Jamie unconditionally loves and supports his daughter. Full stop. As he has done for her entire life, Jamie will do everything he can to protect and care for her. For the last 13 years, that included serving as her Conservator. Now, it means ending her Conservatorship. So it is said in no uncertain terms, Jamie believes that the Conservatorship should end, immediately. Jamie will not seek to continue to serve as Conservator."
In the documents, it was also revealed that Jamie Spears supports a "full and transparent examination" of the conservatorship, and is confident that the review will "put to rest" accusations and speculation surrounding the conservatorship.
Britney Spears appeared to discuss her potential freedom from the conservatorship in a now-deleted Instagram post. In the caption, the popstar claimed that although her father started the cconservatorship, "my mom is the one who gave him the idea!!!" Spears also wrote that her mother "secretly ruined my life", and concluded the post by writing, "but tonight I will smile knowing I have a new life ahead of me !!!!"
