BRIT Awards reveal double trophy for 2021, winners invited to give second trophy to someone else
The BRIT Awards have unveiled the trophies for this year's ceremony taking place next month, which is a double trophy designed by Es Devlin OBE and Yinka Ilori MBE.
For the first time the BRIT Awards will present winners at next month's ceremony with not just one, but two trophies, with winners encouraged to give the second smaller trophy to someone "they consider worthy".
The double trophy for the BRIT Awards 2021 have been designed by Es Devlin OBE and Yinka Ilori MBE, and features a multi-coloured large trophy and a smaller trophy engraved with a maze pattern.
Es Devlin says, "Yinka and I thought that the best award that one could receive would be agency to award another...Each recipient is invited to award the second trophy to someone they consider worthy - it might be recognition - or it might be someone that does something entirely unrelated to music."
Yinka Ilori continues, "The idea came from the experience of lockdown, where your neighbour you’ve lived beside for six years and never say hello to suddenly gave you flowers, foods, acts of kindness. I wanted to capture that...I would describe it as two artists from different disciplines, different inspirations, coming together to design a trophy based around the idea of giving something back - acts of kindness."

The event is part of the UK government's scientific Events Research Programme.
