Bright Eyes unveil cover of Vic Chesnutt's "Flirted With You All My Life"
After ending their nine-year hiatus last year, Bright Eyes have shared a cover of Vic Chesnutt's "Flirted With You All My Life" as their first release of 2021.
The band's cover of Chesnutt's 2009 song marks their first outing of 2021, following last year's "Miracle Of Life" collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers.
Conor Oberst says of the cover, "I had the pleasure of seeing Vic perform many times over the years and from a young age. I can truly say he deeply changed my worldview and what it meant to write a really unique and thought provoking song. One of the greatest ever. Always missed. Here is our humble version of one of his best."
"Flirted With You All My Life" appeared on Chesnutt's 2009 album At the Cut, which marked his penultimate album before his death on Christmas Day of the same year.
The cover by Bright Eyes was originally a physical exclusive released with the "Persona Non Grata" 7”, but has been made available on all streaming platforms for the first time today (24 February).
