Brian Eno to give this year's John Peel Lecture
Brian Eno is set to give this year's John Peel Lecture next month, following on from the likes of Iggy Pop, Charlotte Church, and Billy Bragg.
The lecture is used often as a platform to comment on the music industry and modern culture.
Eno said has said that the legendary DJ "had a profound effect on my musical life and indeed my becoming a musician at all. His career as a non-musician who altered the course of music has been an inspiration to me and forms the basis of this talk."
The BBC said in a statement that Eno is set to "examine the ecology of culture" and "show how cultural processes confer essential and important benefits on society".
The lecture will take place during the Radio Academy's Radio Festival at the London's British Library on 27 September. Eno's speech will be broadcast by the BBC on Radio 6 Music and BBC Four.
