Brian Eno, Ed O'Brien and more confirmed to take part in new music masterclass series
A new virtual music masterclass series called Ear Opener has been announced, and will include contributions from Brian Eno, Radiohead's Ed O'Brien and more.
Ear Opener is a new series of video-based music masterclasses aimed at aspiring musicians, and is written and presented by award-winning composer Paul Clark.
Over 20 videos will make up the series at a time where music classes are being cut from education, and will see a variety of musicians talking about their creative process to inspire creativity and ambition.
Those musicians include Brian Eno, Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien, rapper Lowkey, composer Isobel Waller-Bridge, SEED Ensemble saxophonist and composer Cassie Kinoshi, and more.
Paul Clark says of the masterclass series, "For the last 15 years we have been developing tools to help young people write the music they want to hear; we now have the opportunity to share them online. With huge cuts to education budgets and radical changes to the place of music in the curriculum, it’s essential that we support young people from all backgrounds to become the next generation of inspiring musicians, composers and listeners."
Ed O'Brien adds, "There's no such thing as a bad idea. Sometimes, that idea that doesn't work was necessary to be aired, in order for the next idea that does work to succeed. Many people feel like they should be doing this, should be doing that, there are no ‘shoulds’ with music. By doing something else, maybe you're feeding something that will nourish the music."
