Bobby Womack diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease
It’s with great sadness that we bring the news that Bobby Womack has been diagnosed with dementia.
The soul singer, 68, has confirmed that he’s at the early stages of Alzheimer’s.
The musician told BBC 6 Music:
“The doctor said ‘you have signs of Alzheimer’s’. He said it’s not bad yet but it’s going to get worse. How can I not remember songs that I wrote? That’s frustrating.”
He continued:
“I don’t feel together yet because negative things come in my mind and it’s hard for me to remember sometimes. The most embarrassing thing was when we were getting ready to announce Damon and I can’t remember his last name . That’s so embarrassing.”
Womack produced of our favourite albums of 2012 in the form of The Bravest Man In The Universe, which was about his battle with cancer and pneumonia.
He’s already working on its follow-up.
