Bobby Womack brings the soul to Glastonbury Festival 2013
Sixty-nine year old soul legend, Bobby Womack closed the West Holts stage last night at Glastonbury Festival, showing there’s still no shortage of unrelenting energy, wind in his voice and all-leather suits.
Last year saw the release of The Bravest Man in the Universe, Bobby Womack’s first album in two decades which threw him back into the spotlight and right on to the stage at Glastonbury this year.
“You’re in luck tonight: you’re getting two Bobby Womacks!” was the introduction to his performance and that’s exactly what we all got. A hip, modern Womack performed the first half of the set, featuring songs from his latest album. A half an hour interlude later along with a quick outfit change by Womack from black leather to red leather and the set changed to old school funk turning West Holts field into a soul party.
