Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, the soul legend, has died at the age of 83 in his home in Memphis, Tennessee, following a period of illness.
Bland found fame in the 50s and 60s and placed a total of 63 singles on the R&B charts from 1957 to 1985. He received a a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in 1997 and was a member of the Blues Foundation’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His famous hits include ‘That’s the Way Love Is’ and ‘I Pity the Fool’.
