Blood Orange shares "Charcoal Baby", the first single from upcoming fourth album
Blood Orange has shared a new track and video "Charcoal Baby", the first to be revealed from his forthcoming Negro Swan album.
Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, revealed the title of his fourth album last week.
This week he brings his first single from Negro Swan, called "Charcoal Baby".
Accompanied by visuals directed by Crack Stevens, "Charcoal Baby" is co-written with Porches founder Aaron Maine.
In a statement, Dev Hynes explains his upcoming album as, "an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color. A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of HOPE, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.”
His new album will follow on from 2016's Freetown Sound, and 2018 singles "Chrisopher & 6th" and "JUNE 12TH", which were revealed to coincide with Black History Month.
