Bloc Party head to their roots for new single "Stunt Queen"
Bloc Party amp up the axes on classic-sounding single "Stunt Queen", their first new material since polarising LP HYMNS earlier this year.
This is the first single from all four members of the revitalised Bloc Party - drummer Louise Bartle hadn't joined when most of HYMNS was put together.
"Stunt Queen" is a heady fusion - it's got the wobbly, frontier-shattering tones of 2016-era Bloc Party, but there's sparse bass and anxious drums and the spikiest guitars since "Banquet".
“'Stunt Queen' has its genesis in an idea that dates back to the Australian tour we did at the start of 2016,” says frontman Kele Okereke. “It was an idea that we worked on at sound checks and was one of the first ideas to come along after Justin and Louise joined the band. Playing the Hollywood Bowl feels like a significant milestone for the band and we wanted to mark it with a new release. We’re excited to be playing our biggest ever headline gig in the US and releasing new material in the same week.”
As well as the new track, Bloc Party have confirmed a new headline show at London's Roundhouse on 10 February 2017. Tickets are on sale Friday.
