Bloc Party announce “indefinite hiatus”… again
London fourpiece, Bloc Party have revealed they’re to spend time apart after the end of their current touring schedule – having only recently reunited for their fourth album.
The band released the aptly-named Four last year, their first record since 2008 after frontman Kele Okereke pursued his eponymous solo project. Now, it seems the band are going to focus on separate ventures once again, with things coming to a close after festival season.
In interview with Postmedia News, guitarist Russell Lissack said “Definitely after we finish the festivals in the summer we’ll be taking some time off”, continuing that it’ll be for ”at least six months, maybe a year, maybe two years”.
They will, however, release one last EP before then. Expected by the year’s end.
“It’s such a rollercoaster of extreme highs and extreme lows,” Lissack told the publication. “Maybe we’ll play an amazing show and we’ll be on a real high and then the next day some minor thing will happen and everyone hates each other.”
Bloc Party have been together for ten years, releasing debut Silent Alarm in 2005.
