A recent Billboard rule change has helped Baauer’s ‘Harlem Shake’ enter the Hot 100 chart at number one.
The song countdown recently started taking Youtube data into account, which has boosted the track – a viral hit on the video-streaming website.
The Billboard chart has long taken into consideration both record sales and radio plays but have only recognised online streams for under a year, as MusicWeek also point out.
This has helped ‘Harlem Shake’ enter at top spot, only the 21st song ever to do so in its first week.
The track has also caused an online feud between the producer and Azealia Banks in recent days.
