Bill Callahan and Bonnie "Prince" Billy recruit Wand's Cory Hanson to cover "Night Rider's Lament"
Bill Callahan and Bonnie "Prince" Billy are back with another cover, this time joining forces with Wand's Cory Hanson to cover "Night Rider's Lament", originally written by Michael Burton.
Their cover of the old cowboy tune follows Callahan and Bonnie "Prince" Billy's cover of Air Supply's "Lost In Love" with Emmett Kelly that landed last week.
Callahan and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, real name Will Oldham, have teamed up with Wand's Cory Hanson to tackle Michael Burton's "Night Rider's Lament", which has been recorded numerous times by the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker, Nanci Griffith, Garth Brooks and Alison Krauss, and more.
Other covers by Callahan and Oldham that have been released over recent months include Little Feat's "I've Been the One" with Meg Baird, Robert Wyatt's "Sea Song" with Mick Turner, Steely Dan's "Deacon Blues", Billie Eilish's "Wish You Were Gay" with The High Llamas’ Sean O’Hagan. Other covers by Callahan and Oldham include their version of Yusuf/Cat Stevens' "Blackness of the Night" with AZITA, and a cover of Hank Williams Jr.'s "O.D.'d in Denver" featuring Matt Sweeney.
