Big Thief's Buck Meek announces new solo album with lead song "Second Sight"
Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek has announced his new solo LP Two Saviors, and has shared new track "Second Sight" as the lead outing.
"Second Sight" is Buck Meek's first solo single since July's "Roll Back Your Clocks".
The new track will feature on Two Saviors alongside last year's "Halo Light" song.
Buck Meek says of "Second Sight", "The value in our world is built by the labour of love - a currency that accrues no debt, enriching both the giver and receiver. This wealth provides the vitality needed to lift a hammer, to raise a roof, and to lay upon the eaves in silent awe of nature and civilisation and the culmination of universal effort. Magic (the left hand of love?) arises from attention, and is accessible to all without prejudice. A creation from nothing, from some uncaused cause, some eternal unmoved mover."
Two Saviors will follow his 2018 self-titled solo album, and was recorded (with conditions) in New Orleans with producer and engineer Andrew Sarlo. The conditions included recording during the hottest time of the year, spending a maximum of seven days tracking, and had to be recorded live on an 8-track tape. The musicians weren't allowed headphones, and couldn't hear any of the takes until the final day. Buck Meek met those requirements and recorded the LP with a band made up of Adam Brisbin (guitar), Mat Davidson (bass, pedal steel, fiddle), Austin Vaughn (drums) and Buck’s brother Dylan Meek (piano, organ).
