Big Jeff shares video message amid recovery from house fire
Bristol live music legend Big Jeff has shared his first video message since being injured in a house fire in June, saying that he "hopes to be back in Bristol really soon."
Last month Jeff Johns, known as Bristol live music legend Big Jeff, was "seriously injured" in a fire at his Bristol home and was in a "specialist burns unit in Swansea in a stable condition."
After his family and art manager updated his socials with a statement revealing that he was "stable in intensive care, but still under heavy sedation and unconscious whilst a series of procedures and skin grafts are beginning," another update was shared last week revealing that he's "made some good progress with his recovery over the weekend." His family and art manager also stated he's "now off the ventilator and is conscious."
Soon after Big Jeff returned to his own Twitter for the first time since June, writing, "Hello everybody, I love you all. Thank you for the get well wishes! See you soon Jeff."
This afternoon (12 August) his art page account has shared a video message from Johns, revealing that he's still at a hospital in Swansea but will "continue his recovery at Southmead Hospital" in Bristol. He said, "I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still alive, I'm still kicking. The staff here have been doing a wonderful job." He also shared his gratitude for the physiotherapists, who have been helping him to walk. At the end of his video, Johns said, "I hope to be back in Bristol really soon."
