Beyoncé and Harry Styles among artists that make people run faster
A new study has found that music by Beyoncé and Harry Styles makes people run faster, while music by Drake and BTS make people run slower.
The new study, conducted by lingerie brand Pour Moi, saw them recruit 20 runners who listened to (and recorded their times via a fitness device) different artists for each kilometre.
"For each run we analyzed: total distance ran (km), overall time, km split time, average pace per km, average pace difference (difference between artists)," Pour Moi explained. "This allowed us to calculate the difference in speeds per musician."
The results showed that Beyoncé was the top artist for making people run faster, while Drake was the top artist to make people run slower. Pour Moi reported, "Beyonce’s music was found to be encouraging enough to shave 33 seconds per kilometer off your personal best. Which means you could do a three-mile run 2 minutes and 45 seconds quicker and take over 23 minutes off your marathon time."
Harry Styles, Britney Spears, Adele, Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo were among some of the other artists that made the runners go faster, and Drake was followed by BTS, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry in the list of artists that make people run slower.
