Bestival 2015 announces initial lineup
Bestival 2015 has announced its initial lineup for 2015 via Instagram, with Future Islands, Flying Lotus, Tame Impala, Lily Allen and confirmed to appear.
The headliners aren't clearly defined, but big names announced that could take the slot include Underworld, The Chemical Brothers and Duran Duran.
Other acts confirmed to perform: Rae Morris, Fat White Family, Madlib, Erol Alkan, Action Bronson, Flight Facilities, Four Tet, Hannah Wants, Pond, Sleaford Mods, George The Poet, Young Fathers, Andrew Weatherall, Joy Orbison, Todd Terje, Lapsley, Slaves, Shura, Boy Better Know, Jamie xx, Jungle, Seth Troxler, Jurassic 5, Little Dragon, Kate Tempest and The Jacksons, as well as dozens of others.
As always, a range of DJs, sideshows and bizarre Bestival-y shenanigans will be taking place; for more on that, and the full lineup, head here or here.
Last week, Bestival announced the theme for this year's event, with organiser Rob Da Bank saying:
"Our theme for 2015 is the Summer of Love… it’s a simple theme and hopefully one that’s easy to embrace. It's largely a positive reaction to all the bad news and downright evil going on in the world. We're not hiding our heads in the sand and pretending everything’s rosy and laid-back but we can, as a big family of 50,000 people, come together, listen to music, party and spread love, even if it’s just for the weekend. That has always been at the heart of Bestival and its year-round community. Hate out, love in!"
Speaking about the lineup, he added:
"We're taking it right back to our roots for the 12th annual Bestival. It’s also the 20th birthday of the club where it all started - Sunday Best, and that club and our beloved Bestival were founded on some pretty simple aims - listen to amazing music, make new friends, have fun, and maybe stay up all night. Two decades later we're rigidly sticking to those principles, and this edition of Bestival, with its Summer of Love theme, is all about one huge musical, well, orgy... So, returning friends the Chemical Brothers rave alongside iconic popstars Duran Duran and The Jacksons, and some of my favourite modern musical mavericks - Tame Impala, Flying Lotus and Jungle - jump in bed together… and this is just the start of the party… Watch this space and feel the love!"
Bestival 2014 was headlined by Outkast, Foals, and Chic ft. Nile Rodgers.
Bestival 2015 will take place at Robin Hill Country Park between 10-13 September. Tickets went onsale 10am today (12 February), and you can get them here.
