Now that Best Coast has finished tracking their new album, they’ve shared some new details in an interview with Spin.
Their new LP is currently without a name or release date, but frontwoman Bethany Constantino shared that they intend to put it out through a record label, rather than their own Jewel City imprint, and that it takes strong inspiration from some unexpected pop acts, naming The Go-Gos, Gwen Stefani and Sugar Ray as examples.
Constantino also spoke of last year’s Fade Away, which she does not consider the band’s official third album: “I wanted to put something out that was almost a preview to a new record,” Cosentino says. “If people want to think of this as record four they can. But to us, as Best Coast, this is our third record. This is something that we spent time on, that we tried to perfect as well as we could.”
