Composer Benson Taylor to join United Nation’s World Food Programme in Uganda for World Refugee Day
The award-winning composer and producer Benson Taylor will be heading to Uganda for World Refugee Day to do writing and recording workshops with musicians in the refugee camp.
Benson Taylor has had composer credits on TV series such as Suits, Grey’s Anatomy, Orange Is The New Black, The Big Bang Theory, Two and Half Men, and Breaking Bad, just to name a few.
For World Refugee Day on 20 June, Taylor is joining forces with the United Nation’s World Food Programme to travel to Bidibidi refugee camp in Uganda to help aspiring refugee musicians.
Taylor will bring the creatives together in the camp to give knowledge on writing and recording, as well as raising awareness to the stories of South Sudanese refugees.
The Storytellers project in Uganda is providing refugees in Bidibidi with vital communications skills for developing their livelihoods in Uganda in order to access education and work opportunities in the future.
The award-winning composer also has his own label, featuring artists such as Maxïmo Park, Kele Okereke, Field Music, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Twilight Sad and more.
