Benjamin Francis Leftwich announces fourth album with opening song "Cherry In Tacoma"
Benjamin Francis Leftwich has returned with news of his fourth album To Carry A Whale, which arrives with the opening track "Cherry In Tacoma".
"Cherry In Tacoma" is Leftwich's first release of 2021, and follows last year's cover of U2's "With or Without You".
The new album opener arrives as a first taster of his fourth album, which will follow 2019's Gratitude.
Leftwich recorded To Carry A Whale over the space of four months, working from his Tottenham home, Hackney's Urchin Studios, a hotel room in Niagara and a Southend studio owned by Sam Duckworth (Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly).
The album, which is his first to be written and recorded while completely sober, is produced by Duckworth and Eg White (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Sam Smith).
Lefwich says of the album title, "It’s an observation on what it’s like to be a sober alcoholic addict a couple of years in. A whale is heavy to carry. It’s gonna hurt you to carry it. But it’s also beautiful, and it’s a miracle to be able to carry all that at all."
