Benicassim festival problems spark cancellation rumours
Spanish festival Benicassim has been the subject of doubt after local reports pointed towards assemblage at the site of the event.
The weekender had been scheduled to take place in Barcelona at the end of this month, running from 18-21 July, but now finds itself amid cancellation rumours after Spanish language newspapers El Pais and El Confidencial ran stories on ongoing problems the organisers were facing.
Such problems, as DIY note, include money owed to various vendors, lack of payment guarantee and low ticket sales. This has led to, the reports say, talk between the promoters of pulling the festival altogether.
Benicassim themselves have briefly addressed such rumours, writing on their official Facebook page that “the festival continues” before promising a full statement on Wednesday morning (3 July).
The event’s boss, Vince Power has already scrapped one festival this year after cancelling Hop Farm.
Acts booked to play the 18th instalment of Benicassim this year include Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers and more.
