Beastie Boys' Mike-D creates a punk-rock fashion show soundtrack
Rapper, drummer and Beastie Boys member, Mike-D has provided a mix of updated American Hardcore for fashion Label Kenzo.
The mix, snappily titled Humberto Vs The New Reactionaries: Christine and The Queens Remixx, is to provide the soundtrack for Kenzo’s Spring/Summer 2014 show and combines dirty punk riffs with a clean, disco-esque, production and dancefloor-ready beats.
Speaking to Kenzo, Mike-D said: “Talking to Humberto, I wanted to honor what he was inspired by: American hardcore like Black Flag, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks but then I wanted to update it, or maybe couldn’t help but to update it.” He also went on to say that “ I have been listening to a fair amount of trap records and I think that found it’s way into things on this for sure.”
