Beabadoobee unveils live band in video for new track "She Plays Bass"
Beabadoobee's new track "She Plays Bass" is an ode from the Dirty Hit-signed artist to her bass player, and the first single from her new Space Cadet EP, due out in October.
The track is her third for the label and sees Bea Kristi unveiling her live band for the first time.
Its lush and expansive melodies punch into a blistering crescendo, with Kristi paying tribute to her bass player and best friend Eliana (below, left), who’s featured previously on Loveworn EP track "Apple Cider".
Barely in her twenties, Philippines-born Kristi has build a loyal following with her DIY approach to music over the last 18 months, transcending her bedroom-pop roots with a sound that continues to evolve slowly and surely.
'"She Plays Bass" is basically something that belongs in my playlist," Kristi tells us. "I’ve always wanted to make a song like this and now I finally have. The instrumentation and the melody remind me of all the '90s bands I love mushed together, which I guess is why it’s so comfortable playing it live.
"It’s almost like this song always existed in my brain and I just had to figure out a way to get it out and make it into something special"
Up next for Beabadoobee is a mammoth 30+ date US tour supporting Clario.
