Basia Bulat announces new record Good Advice, reveals lead single "Infamous"
Canada's Basia Bulat has announced a new record called Good Advice, and is sharing lead cut "Infamous".
The record is co-produced by Bulat and Jim James (My Morning Jacket). Bulat drove over 600 miles from Montreal to Louisville, Kentucky, to record in the La La Land studios with James.
Described as a "departure" from earlier material, Good Advice finds Bulat using a traditional rock set up Guitar, synth, sax, and bass are provided by James, and other guest musicians on the LP include Houndmouth, Twin Limb, and Seth Kauffman of Floating Action.
Speaking about the album, Bulat says: “Pop songs can take all those big statements and those big feelings that you have. You don't need to necessarily have everything so detailed because everybody understands. Everybody understands those feelings.”
James added: “Basia has something truly unique... the entire process was so amazing. Hearing her voice just exploding out of her soul brought us all to tears in the control room. Watching Basia come out of her shell with great power was an extraordinary thing to witness.”
The album is Bulat's fourth in total, with Juno and Polaris Prize-nominated Tall Tall Shadow preceding it in 2013.
Good Advice is released 12 February on Secret City.
