Barsuk Records to mark their 15th anniversary with performances by Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf, Menomena, and more
Seattle-based record label Barsuk Records will mark its 15th anniversary with a series of hometown showcases from Barsuk acts past and present. The gigs will take place from 7-10 November at various venues around Seattle, with proceeds going to a cancer support organization called Gilda’s Club Seattle.
On 7 November Nada Surf will play their album Let Go at Showbox at the Market, along with Mates of State.
On 8 November at the Neptune Theater, The Long Winters will be playing their album When I Pretend To Fall, celebrating its 10th anniversary. The line up that night will also include Depeche Mode’s David Bazan, Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie), Minor Alps and more.
The 9 November showcase at Neumos will feature performances from Menomena, Maps and Atlases, Yellow Ostrich, and Cymbals Eat Guitars.
The 10 November show at Tractor Tavern will include Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter playing Reckless Burning, Rocky Votolato, Laura Gibson, and more.
The year also marks the 10th anniversary of the what may be seen as the label’s most popular release, Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism. In honour of this, the band are going to play Transatlanticism in full on Sunday September 1 at Bumbershoot festival. Barsuk co-founder Josh Rosenfeld will also be there hosting a conversation with Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger, David Bazan, and John Roderick of the Long Winters.
