Axel Flóvent announces new EP with Tusks collaboration "You"
Icelandic singer-songwriter Axel Flóvent is back with news of his forthcoming EP Coexist, and has teamed up with Tusks on the lead single "You".
"You" featuring Tusks is Flóvent's first outing of 2022, and will appear on his Coexist EP alongside last year's "Picture of You" featuring Hayden Calnin, Plàsi collaboration "Chaos", and "Give In" featuring Ciaran Lavery.
Flóvent says of the song, ""You" is about losing the feeling for someone you were once in love with, as they slowly turn back into a stranger in your eyes. When Emily came up with the idea, it was an instant connection and a smooth creation from the get-go. It felt like the clarity I needed at the time, and we're both so happy with where it landed."
Tusks adds, "I'd written the main hook of this song years ago & when Axel called me up and suggested we collaborate, I thought it would be perfect for us to work on together. I think we both compliment each other's songwriting styles, so the whole process just happened quickly and organically. I loved creating it with him."
Flóvent says of the new EP, "With the Coexist project, I wanted to create a small collective with musician friends of mine I've gotten to know these past years. It's been fascinating and a pleasure, to say the least, to visit the working process of these four artists. All the songs came from different cores, and my main focus with the project was to find a way to meet each other as artists, write these songs together, and find a sonic middle-ground. It took a few tries to get there, but I couldn't be happier with the result. For the visual part of this project, my focus has been the paintings for the artwork. Each one is painted with the mood and tone of the song in mind."
Coexist, which follows Flóvent's 2021 debut album You Stay By The Sea, is produced by Damian Taylor (Björk, Arcade Fire, The Killers, The Temper Trap).
