"Emoji" is a technology-related pop banger from returning singer/songwriter Au/Ra.
Ibiza-born, multilingual Au/Ra is back after her successful collaboration with CamelPhat on "Panic Room".
Sticking with an electronica beat, Au/Ra's new track "Emoji" is a relatable tale of the control technology has over our relationships. Speaking about her new offering, Au/Ra explains, "Sometimes it’s easier and safer to stay living in a fantasy than face reality. Emoji to me, is about an online relationship/friendship where someone is afraid to show the other person who they really are – in fear of disappointing them and ruining the illusion. Or vice versa, where someone is afraid to find out who the other person is. It’s a lighthearted titled paired with a dark underlying message about today’s complicated world of texting and online communication.”
Already the adolescent singer has played a sold out show at Camden's Assembly, and performed at Soho's G.A.Y., despite frequently working from LA.
Au/Ra's atmospheric pop is growing with confidence with each track delivered, and, at just 16, Au/Ra is establishing herself as one of the year's most sought-after voices in dance and pop music.
