Atoms For Peace's London shows to be made “instantly available” to download

As we previously reported, new music app Soundhalo recently launched, offering fans almost immediate download access to live concert audio and video recordings as they happen. Ever open to new technology (apart from Spotify), Thom Yorke’s Atoms For Peace have now announced that they will collaborate with the platform for their upcoming London dates.

The band will play London’s Roundhouse on 25 & 26 July, with footage from the show going live on the Soundhalo website immediately after the performance of each song finishes.

The app hopes to discourage people from picking up their smartphones mid-gig by offering almost instantaneous live audio and visual recordings of each song played, available for downloading immediately after the band stop playing.

Soundhalo combines the mastered audio from the sound desk with the images shot by a video team, uploaded onto the cloud and ready to download for around the same price as a regular track.

The band’s Nigel Godrich said the following of the matter:

“Part of the reason soundhalo was interesting to me was that I found myself wondering why, whenever you go to a gig, the next day there are a million shaky, horrible sounding YouTube videos already online. But you go and look because you want to see something of your experience. Soundhalo provides something really functional – an experience that you want to remember in front of you as soon as the concert has happened. To be able to relive that is a really great thing.”

You can find out more information on the app here.
